You were finally able to pull off your wedding day beauty regimen successfully. You were stunning and radiant. And it worked even after your honeymoon! But now that you’re home and about to face your first days as a wife, how can you keep your wedding day glow?
Makeup Magic
You can achieve it through makeup. For your base, use a luminous foundation to give your skin a radiant finish. Apply powder in areas where shine is not needed. If you don’t want to use a foundation, apply concealer in key areas instead.
Next, add natural texture and sheen with cream-based highlighter and blush. You can also mix this together with your foundation before applying your base. Or, you can use a hybrid essence-lotion to the high points on your face.
Go Natural
While a good highlighter certainly helps in achieving glowing, dewy skin, nothing beats the natural power of a strict skincare routine. Use hydrating products to create a radiant look such as creams, moisturizers, serums, layering mists, and sheet masks. Each of these products can be fully absorbed by the skin, resulting in a glowing complexion. And remember, makeup goes well and blends better over clean, healthy skin.
Here’s how to use these products in order.
First Things First
Don’t let your hair get in the way. Get your high-quality workout headbands first and choose one that can best hold up your hair away from your face. When you’re ready, start cleaning your face.
It’s best to start with a clear canvass and so, clean your face thoroughly. Cleaning your face removes not only dirt, but other debris like oil, pollution particles, and bacteria as well. This debris can clog pores, causing dull skin.
Use a deep-pore radiance-boosting natural facial cleanser. Wet your face thoroughly, put a small dollop of cleanser in your palms, and lather. Lightly apply this to your face in circular motions. Work your way from your nose and eyes outward towards your cheeks and the edges of your face for full coverage.
Washing your face using circular motions can help massage your face, which is a good practice to relax and awaken your facial muscles. It can also improve blood circulation, increasing flow to the surface of your skin. Your skin will look instantly fresher after rinsing.
Wash your face at least twice a day — when you wake up and before you go to bed. But, you must also do a weekly deep cleanse. When you wash your face, instead of using your hands to lather your facial wash, use a facial cleaning brush. It’s gentle on the skin and can remove dirt and debris from deep pores.
Remove Dead Skin Cells
Washing your face alone will not remove dead skin cells. You have to exfoliate to remove layers of dead skin cells. This allows new cells to appear, giving your skin a smoother, glowing look.
There are two ways to exfoliate your skin. You can use physical exfoliation or chemical exfoliation.
With chemical exfoliation you simply apply a solution on your skin, let it sit for a while, and then brush it on your face with a soft-bristled tool. Some exfoliating creams have abrasive materials in them such as micro-beads that act as exfoliating tools on the skin.
You can use a chemical exfoliation, too. Like the typical exfoliating creams, you apply this on your face and let it sit. You then rinse it afterward. Some creams can be peeled off.
Chemical exfoliating solutions usually have alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs), beta hydroxy acids (BHAs), and polyhydroxy acids (PHAs). Use PHAs if you have sensitive skin. In general though, choose chemical exfoliating solutions with salicylic acid, citric acid, and glycolic acid.
Tone and Moisturize
As a primer to your moisturizing cream or lotion, humectant, and serum, apply a radiance-boosting toner first.
A toning solution is a fast-penetrating water-based solution that prepares your skin for other products that will be applied to it. Make sure to use an alcohol-free toner to avoid stinging your skin.
Follow your toner with a humectant. It is like a moisturizer, but it penetrates deeper into the skin, providing better hydration. Most humectants are available in serums that come with a dropper. You only need a few drops because of their ultra-hydrating effects. Choose a humectant with glycerin or hyaluronic acid.
Then apply an eye cream. This prevents wrinkles around your eyes.
Finally, apply your moisturizer. Use a fragrance-free, non-comedogenic moisturizer with natural calming ingredients.
Keep a Daily Healthy Routine
Aside from maintaining a skincare routine, keeping a healthy lifestyle can also make your skin look radiant and dewy. No amount of products can make your skin healthy and glowing unless you adopt a healthy lifestyle.
Make sure that you’re always hydrated. Always apply sunscreen even if you’re not going out in the sun. Eat healthy foods and avoid junk foods. And, always get enough sleep. With these healthy practices and a proper skincare routine, you will surely achieve that glowing look you had on your wedding day.
